I could not agree more. I regularly commute between Didcot and Oxford and Didcot and Winchester. One is 15 miles and the other 50 miles however it is becoming more and more common that my trip to Oxford takes longer. I regularly queue from the Mendip Heights roundabout all the way to Milton and then once on the A34 I will be at a crawl from Abingdon all the way to Oxford. This is all before a new 3000 houses are built between where I live and Milton!
