Any self respecting vandal could find a far better target at the Cornerstone. It makes my fingers itch and I am far from my youth!
I don't take your point about an inverted pendelum. A couple of sturdy cast iron posts would be unbendable to the yobs and the clock would be out of their reach. The sort of steel lamp post fitting that they are already bending down there would not be a good idea.
