Re: UNDERAGE DRINKING

fisrtly i would like to say i work at one of the above mentioned stores.

on one occasion we had one parent come to the shop and have a go at a member of staff about their child being served alcohol, secondly the same night another parent rang the store to say the same thing.

firstly, you can ring the police or head office and complain about our so called 'underaged' sales, i encourage it to be honest. thing is we have the under 21 policy in place, so if anyone does appear to be under 21, they will be challenged. occasionally a few will fall through the net.

there are only somany measures we can put in place. think about it, if someone who is old enough to buy alcohol does so, on behalf of a minor, who is in the wrong? if we have no reason to suspect that the alcohol is to end up in the wrong hands we have no reason to refuse the sale. however i think you should take more care as to what your 15 or 16 year old is doing at night. you cant go round blaming businesses for your child getting their mate to go and buy them the drink, really? the only person to blame is your child and there mate. so i suggest we work together to combat this. i know the pcso's and the police have been taking alcohol off mionors if found with it in the street and cannot prove their age.

I've been done for underage sales myself, luckly it was a test purchase and not a real case, therefor if i dont think you're older enough i'll let you know, im not getting fined again.

i'll leave you to ponder on that one
