Self Respect

Having been reading this forum for sometime now, also seeing what go's on around the town and having lived in all the neighbouring towns before moving to Didcot a number of things strike me.

* A number of people that live in the town have no respect for either themselves or the town.

* All the time people who actually live here put it down will lead others to follow.

* Dosen't matter how much the town is deleloped in terms of a thriving retail area some people would rather it be just the old broadway with no shops apart from charity, takeaways and Estate Agents

* The Orchard Centre is in fact the hub of South Oxfordshire now and is the envy of people from neighbouring towns but people living in the town don't respect it.

* Certain people like to say things like "Why have a shop like that in Didcot it's too expensive" again lack of self respect.

* I have to tell you Didcot is not the town it was 20yrs ago. It is now resident to some very affluent people with very good jobs and you only need to look at how house prices have remained on the increase when other areas have suffered.

All in all this is a request for people of this town to respect themselves and the town a little more. Big it up to outsiders stop wrecking it eg: Orchard Centre toilets open for 1 week vandalised and never open again! Abingdon residents have done it for years and we should too as there is a lot in Didcot that others don't. Yes we have problems but I can tell you it is no worse here than Abingdon, Wantage or Wallingford.
