I was going to go in there with my friend from school but Nazi Trev shouted at her when she walked in and she was upset, she said "Why is he nasty to me Ro-Land?"

Posted by loopy lou — 05/03/2008 at 17:04
What was the final straw to make them leave? I for one am happy about that as they ruined the Wheaty when they were there.
Posted by doris — 02/03/2008 at 11:51

To All.Leave our Rosie alone. The girl deserves a medal. For bravery above and beyond the call of valour. She,s nice, polite and friendly. And she kept a sinking ship afloat, whilest all else we,re making the most of the Muppets running the place.Wonder what those 2 are up 2? Without our hard earned cash inflating their nostrils

The licensing act actually states that anyone between the ages of 16 and 18 can serve alcohol only when supervised by the DPS, yet is not actually allowed to take any money, so therefore having someone under the age of 18 serving alcohol, someone else would have to take the money for the drinks. Under 18s should only be pouring drinks as part of waiting service and not actually behind the bar in a pub.
Posted by tina — 27/02/2008 at 15:36
the licensing act states that every sale made by someone under the age of 18 must be supervised by an over 18 autherised by the dps to do so
Posted by Licence Holder — 27/02/2008 at 13:08
I think you will find that the licensing law states "Any personal license holder can authorise any over 18 year old to authorise any under 18 year old to sell alcohol" so the people in question were not breaking any laws.

I worked here for nearly two years. I only left because I missed the greasy beast steve, I loved it when he shouted at me - "dont do that you tit!!". And i kept getting blamed for stealing roast chicken dinners and hawaiian pizza. im not ammmuuussseeeddd.
Posted by because.. — 20/02/2008 at 20:51
I think you'll find that your freinds no longer attend on a Sunday night because they no longer offer a lock in and the barmaid in quetion was in fact underage and breaking the law by serving you!!!! so actually the new guys in there are doing everything they should be doing!!!!
Posted by Impartial drunk — 20/02/2008 at 17:32
I've been going to the wheatsheaf for a few years and despite it's faults have always enjoyed the company and the beer. Unfortunately, after the departure of Marcus and Christine i have found the pub to be life-less and boring. Most of my friends no longer attend for sunday night drinking and my favourite bar maid is no longer in sight. I'd just like to say that the up tight new management are not only boring but are dragging the pub down lower than it's ever been before. YOU SUCK!
Posted by AussieJoff — 06/02/2008 at 20:58
Only thing wrong with the wheaty is Marcus dont no MAD BROWN..... You know Mad Brown
Posted by A few of your mates — 05/02/2008 at 13:13
you will both be missed as now we understand you've put it up for managers/manager to run the pub for you.
Good luck to you both! in what ever you decide to do.
There are a lot of people who will miss a great landlord and landlady.

Make sure you wipe your feet on the way out. Took a sh*t in the corner, nobody noticed.

The night in question you were not around if you had properly read my first comment your own staff were saying you were totally smashed and didnt actually know where you were but you were defo not sitting watching football.
Posted by Marcus - Landlord — 06/12/2007 at 2:26
Not being biased -
I think it's ok!
So does Chrissy!
Posted by Marcus - Landlord — 06/12/2007 at 2:19
Paul Corley - Thanks for your comments. I sat at the bar watching the football and greeting the regulars all night. Must have missed you. Thanks for coming. If listening to rumours is your thing, then you are in the wrong pub. Bye.
Posted by OH DEAR — 04/12/2007 at 9:21
What a shame this used to be a great pub, still the (locals) must be happy now its all thev'e ever wanted.
Posted by PAUL CORLEY — 28/11/2007 at 1:25
Went in for a quick pint new to didcot so not sure where to drink, was quite surprised that bar staff and customers topic of conversation was that the landlord (markus?)was extremely inebriated and landlady dont know her name was no where around, probably wont be back shame really seems quite a nice little pub.

Posted by chriso — 17/09/2007 at 23:04

Posted by God help them!! — 06/09/2007 at 18:03
They're trying to make it better and look more modern with the cocktails and the new pumps. James is fantastic and glad he's still there, not sure about the rest of them, and Christine you should go careful, that Rosie was very quick to fill your shoes and act as if it was her pub when you and Marcus parted for a while. Everyone forgets about us few that sit in the lounge bar, we could die of thurst in there, so really there's only one thing left for me to say "BRING BACK AMY"!
Posted by Marcus - Landlord — 26/07/2007 at 6:03
OMG would love to have a proper chat. You seem to have lots of ideas that could help. Come and see me. And that applies to the rest of you. I will let you all know what we discuss.

Posted by pleased local — 31/05/2007 at 0:48
