Didcot Railway Centre can be found adjacent to Didcot Parkway Station. (Map), Entrance is via the station.
The centre is run by members of the Great Western Society and contains an impressive collection of engines, rolling stock and associated paraphernalia. Some of the engines are fully restored and can frequently be seen in steam, while others are still in the process of being overhauled and restored.
There is a recreation of a country station complete with level crossing and signal box. Also a recreation of Brunel's original broad guage track which was used between 1841 and 1892.
Other attractions include the turntable, Frome signal box, a coaling stage and a relics display. There is also a giftshop, refreshments and toilet and first aid facilities.
Open Saturdays and Sundays all year.
Daily from 21 June to 7 September also during school holidays (16 - 24 February, 5 - 20 April, 24 May - 1 June, 25 October - 1 November & 27 December - 4 January 2009).
Opening times Weekends and Steamdays 10.30am-5pm, other days and January, February, November & December 10.30am-4pm. Last admission 30 minutes before closing time. Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
